Coors Light has been getting some bad news lately as a social media storm caught up with them about their “Emboricaute” ad campaign. The ad, which correlates Puerto Rican pride along with drinking beer and getting drunk, is an insult to the Puerto Rican people. Needless to say, the ad caught a lot of heat recently and Coors Light has pulled the campaign. We’re glad to see it go!
This isn’t the first time Coors has gotten in trouble with consumers. They previously had another campaign pulled in Canada that made fun of locals.
We’d like to take this opportunity to send a message to the people over at Coors. Stop insulting your customers. It will get you no where. That being said, if you want to market your product effectively to Latinos, hire an agency who understands our community. There are a ton of really great Hispanic marketing agencies out there who know how to target us without exploiting us. Learn a lesson from this…in the meantime, we’ll be drinking Corona!
